Due to the fact that I have started in November of 2014, I will not review every summer movie. There are sooooo many summer movies that I saw this year. There were also so many good ones. I will list my favourite summer movies in alphabetical order as I do not want to ruin my top 10 movies of 2014 as I am sure a lot of movies from this list will finish up on the best of the year list. Without anymore delay, here are favourite summer movies of 2014. I live in Australia so they are winter (fall) movies for me but still...
(FYI: Winter Soldier came out in April so it is disqualified, also these don't have to be the best movies ever but just good summer movies)
22 Jump Street - The funniest movie of the year. It is very popular among 12 year old children but they won't get the full experience as there are a lot of references that will go right over there head. For everyone else who saw it, the movie had lots of laughs and a couple of intense scenes.
Boyhood - A great coming of age story. Almost three hours in length, there is no dent in this movies armour until the last 30-45 minutes where I felt it slowed down a little, however it is still overall a great movie.
Chef - A fun movie that made me really hungry!
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - One of my most anticipated movies of the year, it did not disappoint and is one of my favourite movies of the year.
Edge of Tomorrow - A fun action movie that came out of no where. No one expected this to be good based on the trailer and the title. Although Edge of Tomorrow is 1 million times better then Live/Die/Repeat in my opinion.
Frank - Quite possibly the best indie film I have seen so far this year. It came out of no where for me and I absolutely adored this movie. It was weird, funny and Michael Fassbender was incredible!
Godzilla - A great first act, a disappointing second act and a terrific third act. No spoilers.
Guardians of the Galaxy - My most anticipated movie of the year, I was a little let down in terms of quality but is still possibly the most fun movie of the year.
How to Train Your Dragon 2 - The best animation movie of the year so far. It has so much emotion and had an Empire Strikes Back feel to it.
X-Men: Days of Future Past - One of the most perfect superhero movies I have seen and Fox's best superhero movie ever in my opinion. Could have done with a little longer movie but there will be an extended cut next year.
Thank you all for reading!
